Bowyer promises to... Give Asda a chance

"Here in the UK Tesco rules the supermarket world. apparently £1 in every 8 is spent at Tesco - that's enormous!

The thing is, all those plastic ags... ASDA is going green in a scheme to enable our customers to reduce the number of carrier bags they use through re-use of Bags for Life and they also offer the facility to recycle carrier bags in all our stores.

From their site:
"We've pledged as a business to send zero waste to landfill by 2010 which we are well in the process of delivering. However, we want to do more by making it easier for our customers to reduce their carrier bag usage (which is currently 2.2 billion each year) by 15%, this will help reduce the billions of bags we send to landfill."

That's pretty good if you ask me. They're a pretty good supermarket anyway - let's face it, there's not much difference between all the main chains, and things like this tip the balance in favour of ASDA in my eyes."
